Some Pictures of my 110 During Restoration
At last, for those of you who are tired with ball-races and brake pads,
here are some pictures of my car as a whole, taken while I was restoring the bodywork.
Showing it's "best side" for the camera! The doors are from a scrap car.
My original steel ones had rotted out at the bottom, so I used older alloy ones instead.
This is how the other side looked at the time. Front Wing off,
only one door, rear valance missing and work progressing on the wheel arch and B post.
Not so pretty from this side is it!
I had paid a company in Crewkerne to repair this wheelarch. I was so disgusted with
their work I hacked it all out and re-did it myself.
This is what I found behind a wafer thin outer skin!
This is the slightly un-even result of my attempt.
At least it's solid, all the rust has been cut out and it's about the right shape..
Here it is being taken away for a respray... (This is not me driving)
I sorted out the number of shims to make the doors fit before spraying,
even though they would be removed again, so I didn't need to worry about chipping the paint while I did it.
The front valance, apron and rear quarter valances and spare wheel door are just loosely in place to give the
spray-shop an idea of how to assemble it after spraying all the parts individually.
All the windows are out, lights and wipers removed and every bit of trim removed too.
Someone who saw it in this state said it looked similar to the way cars are
prepared for banger racing :-(
Doors off again to spray the shuts
Quarter valances off again too
and off with the front apron... They were very thorough!
It's so shiny - love the black-out windows!
Hee Hee Hee, It's coming to get you, want a sweetie?
Ready to have all the bits put back on.
And finally it's looking a lot better... All the effort seems to have paid off.
